About Salok Mahalla 9
Salok Mahalla 9 is a collection of 57 Saloks — short, sacred couplets composed by Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, the Ninth Sikh Guru (1621–1675). Revered as Hind-di-Chadar ("Shield of India"), Dharam-di-Chadar ("Shield of Dharma") and Srisht-di-Chadar ("Shield of the World"), Guru Ji gave his life to protect religious freedom for the oppressed, standing fearlessly against tyranny.
These verses appear at the close of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (Ang 1426) and carry one urgent, loving message: this life is short and the world is temporary — spend your precious time remembering Vaheguru.
