ਅਰਥ ਅੱਗ, ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ, ਪਿਆਸ

ਤਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥

The world is burning in the fire of desire.

ਭੇਖ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਬੁਝੈ ॥

Wearing various religious garbs, the fire (of desires) is not extinguished.

ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਊਪਜੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥

Peace comes from the Guru; He puts out the fire of desire.

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥

O mind, become Gurmukh, and extinguish the fire within.
