ਜਾਇ in Gurbani

ਥਾਪਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਕੀਤਾ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Vaheguru cannot be established; He cannot be created.
ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਇਸੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
Vaheguru Himself assigns us to various activities. Nothing else can be done (against that Hukam).
ਜੁਗ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੁਲੰਭੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
In this age, it is difficult to obtain the Naam. It is obtained by being a Gurmukh (turning to the guidance of the Guru).
ਸੁੰਞੇ ਘਰ ਕਾ ਪਾਹੁਣਾ ਜਿਉ ਆਇਆ ਤਿਉ ਜਾਇ ॥
Like guests in an empty house, they (manmukhs) leave (the world) just exactly as they have come (empty handed).
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਤਾ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
One who does not remember his Creator (Vaheguru), comes and goes in reincarnation over and over again.
ਨਿਤ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
Even if one bathes at sacred pilgrimages daily, their ego is not wiped out.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
By remembering Vaheguru’s Name, suffering goes away.
ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਸੀ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਜਾਸੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਚਾਈ ॥
The One, who created the creation is always present. He neither is born nor He dies. (Notice the beauty of Gurbani in the above example, ਜਾਇ means born and its variation, ਜਾਸੀ means die here.)
ਜੀਵਣ ਮਰਣਾ ਜਾਇ ਕੈ ਏਥੈ ਖਾਜੈ ਕਾਲਿ ॥
Life and death come to all who are born. Everything here gets swallowed by Death.
ਵਿਣੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
Other than Vaheguru, how can I find peace? There is no other place to go.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੀ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
O Nanak, except for the One (Vaheguru), there is no other place at all.
