ਕਾਲੁ ਅਹੇਰੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਬਧਿਕ ਜਿਉ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

Death, like a hunter, a butcher, is on the prowl; tell me, what can we do?

ਇਤੁ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੈਰੁ ਧਰੀਜੈ ॥ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਕਾਣਿ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

Once you place your feet on this Path, give Me your head, and do not have any fear or hesitation (of what people would say).

ਛੋਡਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਰੇ ਪਾਖੰਡੀ ਮਨ ਕਪਟੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥

O hypocrite, renounce and abandon your hypocrisy; do not practice deception.

ਲੋਭੀ ਕਾ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਜੇ ਕਾ ਪਾਰਿ ਵਸਾਇ ॥

Do not trust greedy people, as much as you can avoid doing so.

ਅਸੁਮੇਧ ਜਗੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਸੋਨਾ ਗਰਭ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਰਿ ਤਊ ਨ ਪੂਜੈ ॥

One may perform the horse-sacrifice ceremony, or give secret donations of gold, but none of these is equal to reciting Vaheguru’s Name.

ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ਢੀਲਾ ॥

O my dear, remember Vaheguru, day and night - do not delay for a moment.
