ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਰਾਜਨ ਅਰੁ ਭੂਮਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨ ਬੂਝੀ ॥

There are greatest of the great kings and landlords; even their desires are not satisfied.

ਲਾਖ ਕੋਟਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕੇ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਤਾ ਮਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨ ਬੂਝੀ ॥

Through sins, one may obtain countless enjoyments, but even then, one’s desires are not satisfied through them.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਤੂ ਕਰਤੇ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਤੈਂ ਆਸ ਪੁਜਾਈ ॥

O Creator (Vaheguru), You fulfil their desires, who have You in their hearts.

ਜਨਮੁ ਪਾਇ ਕਛੁ ਭਲੋ ਨ ਕੀਨੋ ਤਾ ਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਡਰਉ ॥

Obtaining this human life, I have done no good deeds; which makes me very afraid!
