ਵਿਣੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰੇ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਿਝਈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕੋ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥

Without conquering his mind, no one can be successful. Let anyone see it through deep deliberation.

ਵਿਣੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਵਿਣੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥

Without love, there is no devotion. Without the True Guru, there is no love.

ਵਿਣੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਜਿ ਮੰਗਣਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੁਖਾ ਕੈ ਦੁਖ ॥

To ask for any other than You, O Vaheguru, is the most miserable of miseries.

ਅਗੈ ਗਇਆ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਵੇਕਾਰ ॥

Going to the world hereafter, everyone shall realise that without the Naam, it is all useless.

ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਦਇਆਪਤਿ ਦਾਤਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਣੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥

Since the very beginning of time, and throughout the ages, You have been the merciful and generous Master. Without You, liberation cannot be attained.
